Jinan Steel to halt production for 11th National Games

Qilu Evening News quoted Jinan Environmental Protection Bureau said, Jinan Iron and Steel Co Ltd is asked to halt parts of production lines from September 30th in a bid to clean Jinan city's air quality ahead of the 11th National Games.

According to Jinan National Games Air-quality Controlling Proposal issued on September 7th, construction work should be halted in second ring road and hi tech development areas starting from September 20th till the end of the games.

As per report, another regulation kicks in that Jinan city will allow vehicles on the road only on odd or even days, depending on their license plate numbers. And the smoky vehicles would be barred from the road during the games. Meanwhile, Jinan Steel may temporarily shut down two 70 cubic meters, two 52 cubic meters and one 33 cubic meters sinters and 3 pellet shaft furnaces in an effort to improve the air quality for the games.
