SCCL hikes thermal coal prices
Sunday, 20 Sep 2009

It is reported that Singareni Collieries Company Ltd has recently raised coal prices citing increase in wages expenditure following implementation of Sixth Pay Commission report.

SCCL officials had reportedly told consumers that the price increase had become necessary as they were incurring losses from some of the mines, and also since the price of SCCL coal is much lower than imported coal.

Vide Price notification No 16/2009-10 dated August 26th 2009 titled “Coal Prices with immediate effect” SCCL announced that in pursuance of the Colliery Control Order 2000, issued by the government of India on January 1st 2000 and in suppression of its earlier Price Notification No 15/2009-10 dated 19.8.2009, revised coal prices have been notified for supply of various grades of coal produced from all Mines of The Singareni Collieries Company Limited with immediate effect.
