Over 50 Shipbuilders order Chongqing SBQ plates

It is reported that many officials from over 50 shipbuilders came to order products in the production starting ceremony of Chongqing Steel’s new wide & heavy lines in September 24th. Some ship yards even paid subscription last year for the first batch of ship plates from the new lines.

As per report, China completed 30 million DWT of ships last year, consuming 12 million tonnes of shipbuilding steels. As one of China largest ship plate producer, Chongqing Steel’s 2700mm medium plate line yielded over 1 million tonnes of ship plates last year becoming the largest shipbuilding steels base in West China.

At present, Shipbuilders in China hold about 600 million DWT of ship orders and is expected that they will complete 40 million DWT to 50 million DWT of ships next year and use up to 20 million tonnes of shipbuilding steels. By the end of next year, Chongqing Steel will have three wide & heavy plate lines to extend its market occupancy from recent 7% to over 30% and taking the first place in China.
