It is reported that Coal miner Churchill Mining Plc had received three separate approaches and denied press speculation linking the company to BHP Billiton pushing the shares up as much as 17%.
Churchill Mining Plc said two of the approaches were for possible acquisition of specific projects and the third was for a possible offer for the company.
It said "The approaches are conditional on due diligence and at this stage there is no certainty that any will progress to completion."
In August, Churchill said its total measured and indicated resources for the East Kutai Coal Project in Indonesia exceeded 1.3 billion tonnes and that the asset would yield substantial interest in the company from energy producers.
