Reuters reported that Sumitomo Metal Mining Company Limited expects to produce 201,000 tonnes of copper in October and March, as announced at the beginning of the business year in April.
A company spokesman said that would be down 0.9% YoY. He said that the company was keeping output curbs of 7% introduced in January. Japanese smelters have been forced to reduce production as manufacturers cut output in the face of the worst global economic downturn in decades.
