
Reuters reported that South African diversified miner Exxaro had restarted production at its Zincor refinery after a blast at the only plant of its kind in the country killed 3 workers and injured 12 others.
Mr Trevor Arran executive GM for mineral sands said that the refinery was restarted last week and was running at 90% of its capacity of 9,000 tonnes per month but would ramp up to full production within two weeks from now.
Mr Arran said that "We are running at about 90% of capacity things are going well at this stage and we should ramp up to full capacity within the next 2 weeks."
He said that internal investigation into the cause of the accident had been completed but the results would only be revealed after the end of the probe done by the government.
