Power majors like Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Ltd, NTPC and Punjab State Electricity Board plan to set up 60 MW to 80 MW solar power plants with an investment of INR 1,000 crore to INR 1,200 crore.
RVPNL is expected to set up a plant at Suratgarh in Rajasthan, while NTPC will set up a plant at Anta in the state and PSEB is to set up a solar plant in Punjab.
According to sources, the capacity of these plants will vary from 15-20 MW each, and will cost INR 16 crore per MW. Each of these utilities are expected to fund the projects individually.
