Linde Gases, a division of The Linde Group, has announced the launch of its ECOCYL® OSQ refillable cylinder for portable calibration and testing of highly sensitive environmental monitoring devices.

The ECOCYL® OSQ employs a unique negative pressure technology, guaranteeing precision in the calibration gas delivery requirements for ultra-sensitive instruments, which can be susceptible to damage from the positive gas pressure usually applied by other gas cylinders. Such instruments include detection monitors with integrated pumps or those monitors calibrated in docking stations with built in pumping devices.

ECOCYL® is part of the HiQ® portable specialty gas solutions from Linde. As with other models in the ECOCYL® range, the ECOCYL® OSQ is refillable, avoiding the environmental waste or costly regulatory cylinder return and waste handling issues often related with typical disposable cylinder packaging. ECOCYL® cylinders have integrated cylinder valve, pressure regulator and flow control all within the cylinder, which are permanently protected by a specially designed protective cowling, reducing the risk associated with connecting hoses and making them safer and easier to handle than cylinders requiring connections and other associated gas handling equipment.

In addition, ECOCYL® cylinders, which are made of aluminium, are light, strong and compact, therefore offering true portability and convenience when needing to regularly calibrate monitoring devices across dispersed locations. ECOCYL® portable gas solutions also deliver greater economic savings as cylinders have a pressure of 150 bar, containing at least 50% more gas than most disposable cylinders.

Mr Steve Harrison head of Specialty Gases and Specialty Equipment said that "The development of the ECOCYL® OSQ is further verification of Linde’s continuing commitment not only to innovation, but to providing sustainable products and solutions which impact significantly less on the environment. The fact that we can deliver innovative technologies such as these while also continuing to push boundaries on safety improvements, economy and convenience for our customers is what makes Linde a world leading gas technology supplier."
