Severstal steel mills in US reach 95pct utilization

Russia Severstal announced that the capacity utilization rate of its three steel mills in US has reached 95%, that is Dear born, Sparrows Point and Columbus. From the end of May to early June this year, the capacity utilization rate of the three mills still maintained 65%-70%.

The other two mills of Severstal in US-Warren and Wheeling are still in production suspension, and Severstal is unwilling to discuss any questions about the two mills.

It is learned that Severstal purchased Ohioan Warren and Wheeling in state of West Virginia in July 2008 and August 2008 respectively, which own the plate capacity of 1 million tonnes per year and 3.1 million tonnes of HRC capacity per year accumulatively.

In addition, the annual capacity of plate from Dearborn in Michigan is about 3.6 million tonnes, the billet and plate capacity from Sparrow Point in Maryland is 3.7 million tonnes around and 3 million tonnes per year respectively and the annual production of plate in Columbus in Mississippi is about 1.5 million tonnes.
