Punjab government plans power saving measures
Tuesday, 27 Oct 2009

The Punjab government has unveiled an ambitious plan to ensure reduction in demand of 1,850 MW power by adopting several energy saving measures.

As per report the proposed plan would not only help the state exchequer save INR 8,000 crore by the end of next year 2010-11 but also help fill the demand-supply gap to some extent.

The total demand of power in the state is 9,786 MW against the total installed capacity 6,841 MW thus creating a shortfall of 2,379 MW which is being overcome by initiating four new thermal power plants in the state.
