Shipping minister receives INR 220.54 crore dividend from SCI

It is reported that Mr GK Vasan minister for shipping received from the Shipping Corporation of India a demand draft for a sum of INR 220,53,74,223 towards the final dividend by the company for the financial year 2008-09.
The demand draft was handed over to the minister by Mr S Hajara CMD of SCI.
For the financial year 2008-09, the SCI, the only Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Shipping has earned a net profit after tax of INR 940.7 crore on a turnover of INR 4,564.5 crore. In the same financial year, the company had also allotted to the shareholders one bonus share for every two shares held which increased the paid up share capital of the company to INR 4,23,45,36,450.
