Gujarat State Petronet Ltd a subsidiary of Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation is planning to lay a 1,600 kilometer long natural gas pipeline from Surat of Gujarat to Paradip of Orissa at an investment of INR 6000 crore.
In this regard, GSPL has submitted EoIs to the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board proposing to lay, build, operate and expand the natural gas pipeline.
The source of gas for Paradip is likely to be the LNG terminal of GSPC at Mundra, Shell at Hazira, Petronet at Dahej and the domestic gas fields offshore of Gujarat. As per the initial estimates, the demand en route the pipeline is expected to be 20 mmscmd while the assessment of total gas volumes for transportation will be 30 mmscmd, considering the 33% additional capacity creation according to the PNGRB requirement. Meanwhile, GSPC is likely to begin work at Mora in Surat where it plans a major node/terminal of GSPL’s gas grid pipeline network.
The proposed pipeline is expected to pass through the Mora Jalgaon Nagpur Raipur Bhubaneswar route with spur lines to consumers. The 1,724 kilometer pipeline will have five spur lines totaling 124 kilometer while the end-point of this will be IOC’s 15 million tonne per annum refinery at Paradip.
