Baosteel accelerates bringing up leaders of international impact

At 4th Technology Innovation Conference held on the morning of October 27th, Baosteel Group Corporation denominated twenty one primary members of Golden Apple Scheme Core Working Group led by Mr Yang Jian. Five core working groups in fields of steel making, hot rolling plates, cold rolling, post cold-rolling processing and automotive sheet technologies had been set up to take responsibilities in technology innovation and improvements in respective fields. As new measure of Baosteel in accelerating bringing up technological leaders, it was also an important step forward in focusing on R&D in technology innovation and R&D investment decision-making mechanism.

To further accelerate team building of high level technological personnel with international impact to enhance Baosteel core competitiveness and technology innovation capacity, Baosteel released Golden Apple scheme which refers to distinguishing high-level technological personnel with relative strong comprehensive development potentialities in key professions of Baosteel, setting up separate core working groups and specialized R&D teams in respective fields, making them basic units of Baosteel technology innovation, and bringing into play their leadership roles in technology R&D, relative lines continued improvement, technical revamping projects construction and autonomous integrated innovation. It was planned that Baosteel would bring up technological leaders with international influence in eight to ten years.

In April, Baosteel decided on five piloting fields of steel making, hot rolling plate, cold rolling, post cold rolling processing and automotive sheet technologies based on working requirements of implementing Golden Apple Scheme after nomination, preliminary assessment, candidate Q&A, and panel assessment by group company managers official working meeting. At present all five teams have set up visions, objectives and development directions. Among them, objective of automotive sheet technical team formed by six people led by Mr Wang Li, Mr Zheng Jianping and Mr Zhu Xiaodong was to become world leader in high-strength products and technology, cutting itself among figures of international cooperation, supporting realization of Baosteel automotive sheet strategy enterprise scale and premium steel products and industrial supply chain and becoming trustworthy technical partner of automobile customers. Objective of the steel making team was to impress steel-making field by Baosteel autonomous innovation, catching up with world leaders in steel-making technology and bringing up technological leaders with international impact.
