Bloomberg reported that South Korea’s trade commission is meeting companies to review a possible extension of anti-dumping duties on stainless steel bars from Japan, India and Spain.
The Ministry of Knowledge Economy said that the Korea Trade Commission held a hearing session with related parties on the duties, which have been in place for the past five years and will make a final decision next month.
South Korean producers including POSCO Specialty Steel Co asked for an extension, while foreign rivals including Sanyo Special Steel Co. wanted to terminate the measure.
South Korea last year imported 16,914 tonne of stainless steel worth KR 91.3 billion.
