Egyptian iron ore reserves seen at 600 million tonnes
Friday, 06 Nov 2009

Al Alam cited Dr Mohamed Abdel Aziz head of the quarries division of the state owned HADISOLB as saying that the total iron ore reserves in Egypt are put at 600 million tonnes of which 250 million tonnes are in Al Wahat Al Bahariya.

Out of more than 11 companies producing steel in the country only HADISOLB is utilizing local raw materials.

To which extent the development & exploitation of local iron ore reserves may be introduced as a condition prior to the issuance of steel projects' licenses, in Asswan or in Al Wahat Al Bahariya that remains to be seen.
