EUROFER announced that steel import to Europe in the first half of 2009 has decreased sharply by 45% YoY as compared with the same period of 2008.
As the biggest steel importer to EU, China suffered most from sluggish demand in EU. Unlike China, the other countries, such as Turkey, Ukraine, South Korea, and Taiwan have not suffered from big drop in delivery to EU.
China steel supplier has shifted its export market from EU to other regions, such as Southeast Asia whose steel imports is estimated to increase by 24% in the coming two years.
