Turkish metal industry price index in October dips by 18pct

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute, in October 2009, the producer price index for Turkish industry in general increased by 0.28% over September and was up 0.19% YoY while an average rise of 2.2% was registered for the latest 12 months.
In October, the PPI for the domestic basic metal industry decreased 2.41% MoM and was down 17.78% compared to October 2008. Meanwhile, the average decrease in the latest 12 months was 18.72%.
On the other hand, during the given month, the PPI for domestic manufacture of metal products, except machinery rose by 0.18% over the previous month and was up 0.68% YoY. Meanwhile, in the sector in question an average increase of 7.3% in the PPI index was registered in the latest 12 months.
