Dow Jones reported that Vale SA and Usiminas will sign a USD 900 million logistics deal. The contract involves Vale transporting 10.1 million tonnes a year of steel and raw materials for Usiminas.
As part of the deal,
1. Vale will carry 3 million tonnes a year of coking coal through the Praia Mole port terminal near Vitoria to the Usiminas mill at Ipatinga in Minas Gerais State.
2. Vale will also transport 360,000 tonnes a year of limestone within Minas Gerais State, as well as iron ore and pig iron.
3. Vale will also be responsible for carrying 3 million tonnes a year of finished steel products, such as coils and thick steel plate to distribution centers in Belo Horizonte and Sao Paulo.
