
MEED reported that Spanish and French firms team up for engineering, procurement and construction work A team of Spain’s Iberdrola Ingenieria Y Construccion and France’s Alstom is the low bidder for the power portion of the planned Hassyan 1 power and water project.
The group bid AED 6.6 billion for the engineering, procurement and construction contract to build the 1,500 MW power plant.
South Korea’s Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction bid AED 7.5 billion and Italy’s Saipem bid AED 9.5 billion. Two companies bid for the desalination work on the project. Italy’s Fisia Italimpianti was the low bidder with a price of AED 3.3 billion.
Doosan bid AED 3.5 billion. The desalination plant will have capacity of 100-120 million gallons a day of water. The companies submitted bids to the Dubai Electricity & Water Authority on 8 November. The authority has not set a timetable for the award of either contract or the start of construction work.
