
Ukrainian News Agency reported that 11 miners had been reported killed and 4 hospitalized after the collapse of the hoisting device for lifting and lowering people at Bazhanov coal mine of the Makiivvuhillia state owned enterprise on July 29.
As per report fifteen people were working in the mine section at the moment of the accident. According to the statement the aboveground part of the trunk of a cage hoist collapsed.
Three miners with injuries of moderate severity were taken to Makiivka hospital and one in grave condition is in Donetsk hospital. Ten units of the Emergency Situations Ministry Main Directorate in Donetsk region and 4 units from the State Paramilitary Mine Rescue Service of the Ministry of Energy and the Coal Industry were involved in rescue and search operations that have been competed already.
A total of 538 miners working inside the mine managed to come out of the mine unaided via reserve trunks. The mine operation has been suspended.
The reasons for the collapse are being established.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, an explosion occurred at the Sukhodilska Skhidna coal mine which is part of the Krasnodonvuhillia coal mining company at about 01:57 on Friday.
