It is reported that Mr Earl Ray Tomblin acting governor of West Virginia had visited Alliance Coal's holdings throughout Ohio County on April 12th 2011.
Along with state and local dignitaries, he was taken on a driving tour of the entire area from Battle Run to Short Creek to North River Road. The Tunnel Ridge Mine just started up in March 2010.
Alliance Coal's USD 300 million investment have grown quickly in physical facilities and numbers of employees. They have 154 people working but as the governor announced, in 2012, that number will double.
They say they work five days a week, not seven, because they want their employees to have weekends off with their families. They also have their own health facility on site for workers and their families.
And they supported the major upgrade of the Lock 12 ball field in Warwood.
