Anglo Asian Mining has appointed a new chief financial officer and company secretary. Mr Sean Duffy will take on the role of chief financial officer from Andrew Herbert and company secretary with immediate effect. Herbert stepped down from the company in order to concentrate on his other business interests.
Mr Duffy has held senior finance positions for BHP Billiton corporate head office in Australia and coal exploration projects in Indonesia.
Additionally he has worked as a director of finance for Ma’aden, a Saudi Arabian gold, phosphate and aluminium mining company.
This morning the company said it was looking at new properties in Central Asia and Caucasia in order to fulfil its expansion ambitions and become a mid-tier gold and base metal production company.
Anglo Asian’s flagship mine, Gedabek, is based in western Azerbaijan. In the year ended 31 December 2011 it produced 57,068 ounces of gold, 611 tonnes of copper and 173,326 ounces of silver.
It is also actively exploring its 300 square kilometre Gosha gold project located 50 kilometres away from Gedabek and the 462 square kilometre Ordubad project, also in Azerbaijan.
