Antara News reported that Indonesian mining company PT Aneka Tambang will build a coal fired power plant in Pomalaa at a cost of USD 102 million in 2009.
The 102 MW plant will be built to generate power for its own consumption in that province, where Antam has ferronickel plants.
Mr Bimo Budii Satrio secretary of Antam said that it has so far used marine fuel oil to operate its ferronickel plants in Pomalaa. He added that the power plant will help reduce its operating costs, especially in energy given soaring oil prices.
