Bloomberg reported that Australia’s largest port and rail operator Asciano Ltd signed a 10 year coal haulage contract with Xstrata Plc and estimated revenue from the accord with its biggest coal customer at more than AUD 800 million.
Asciano in a statement to the Australian stock exchange said that the accord covers coal haulage from Xstrata’s mines across the Hunter Valley and Port Kembla region of New South Wales state and starts January 1st 2011.
Asciano last month agreed a coal haulage accord with a unit of Anglo American Plc.
