Radio Australia reported that the Australian Environment Minister Mr Tony Burke says he's opposed to a Greenpeace advertisement that featured in an Indian newspaper, warning against investing in Queensland coal projects.
Mr Burke said “You want industry to be able to continue in a way that is sustainable. That means putting the right conditions around it, making sure that it's sensitive to the environment. If you are having a blanket ban and that was the only pathway we wouldn't be meeting with the company now to try to resolve what checks and balances need to be put in place.”
Both Australia's government and opposition have condemned a Greenpeace advertisement in an Indian newspaper that warns against mine investment in the Great Barrier Reef as Greenpeace doesn't want coal shipped through the Great Barrier Reef.
The advertisement listed what it described as risks for GVK's Alpha project, including the political wrangling between the State and Federal Governments over environmental approvals.
