BC Iron said that recent infill drilling at its Bonnie East deposit in the Pilbara has confirmed its potential as a direct shipping ore body.

The miner said that the deposit, which hosts an inferred resource of 8.6 million tonnes at 57% iron, would be the subject of a resource upgrade and mine plan assessment scheduled for completion by the end of March 2012.

Bonnie East is part of BC Iron's Nullagine iron ore joint venture project with Fortescue Metals Group.
