The Australian Financial Review, without saying where it got the information, reported, that BlueScope Steel Ltd has filed a submission with Australia’s competition regulator objecting to BHP Billiton Ltd and Rio Tinto Group’s proposed Pilbara iron ore joint venture.

The report noted that the deadline for submissions on the BHPB Rio venture passed on April 14, but it says sources told the paper Bluescope is working to an independent timetable with the ACCC.
