Bayi Steel Coking Coal Group is accelerating the capacity expansion of each mine now aiming to form 7 million tonnes of coal production capacity in the upcoming 3 years in order to meet the strategic development demand of Xinjiang Bayi Steel.

Recently, accompanied by vice president of Baosteel Group Corporation chairman and Party secretary of Bayi Steel Mr Zhao Xia, Chairman Mr Xu Lejiang and vice president Mr Dai Zhihao of Baosteel Group Corporation went there for investigation and instructions. Mr Xu Lejiang pointed out that the Coking Coal Group will play an important role in the development of Bayi Steel in future. He wished that Coking Coal Group can speed up the development, and provide practical experience and human resource support for Baosteel to develop and consolidate the coal resources at home and abroad.

Coking Coal Group Aiweiergou Mining Area is the only large scaled quality coking coal production base in Xinjiang at present which possesses the complete grades of coking coal a commercial coal reserve up to 479 million tonnes and a recoverable reserve of 297 million tonnes. Mr Xu Lejiang firstly went to Aiweiergou Mining Area and went down to 1818 shaft to learn in details the coking coal reserves and safe production situation. Then Xu Lejiang wen to 1818 mine 150 tonnes expansion project, 1930 riverbed diversion project and 1930 mine 150 tonnes expansion project to learn about the project progress on the spot.

In the following symposia, the principal of Coking Coal Group reported the organization, production capacity, key project progress and future development planning etc of the enterprise. After joining Bayi Steel and Baosteel Group Corporation the coal production capacity of Coking Coal Group increases rapidly and the raw coal production capacity of the enterprise has grown from 600,000 tonnes in 2000 to 2,450,000 tonnes in 2009.

In his speech Mr Xu Lejiang firstly affirmed the achievements made by Coking Coal Group in recent years. He said Xinjiang is now greeting a historic opportunity for major development and the Group Corporation will go all out to support the development of Bayi Steel Coking Coal Group.

Mr Xu Lejiang pointed out that, Bayi Steel future development in Xinjiang will confront more intensified competition and the key to keep its footing lies with the cost. Now Bayi Steel has laid a good foundation and Coking Coal Group will play an important role in the development. He wished that Bayi Steel Coking Coal Group can become the kindling of Baosteel Group in coal resources development and consolidation, cultivating and outputting talents for the entire group to develop and consolidate the coal resources at home and abroad in future and forging a brand new resources supply chain of Baosteel.
