
TEX reported that Brazil's iron ore exports are steeply increasing. According to the Brazil's Secretariat of Foreign Trade, iron ore exports in September 2009 reached 28.24 million tons which, as a single month volume, stood third in history after 35.11 million tonne in May 2008 and 29.23 million tonne in September 2008.
The principal driver for the high level exports is China that has imported 108.31 million tonne in 2009 to September with a share of 55.7% in the total. Exports to Asian markets including China account for a large 70.5%, largely surpassing the total of exports to Europe, North and South Americas and the Middle East.
