According to Mr Huang Jingan president of China Coking Industry Association, China will produce 370 million tonne to 380 million tonne of coke this year based on a 10% forecast output of crude steel for 2010.
Cokeries monitored by the CCIA registered 9.46% and 11.74% increases in their coke output and stocks respectively in February. Most independently operated cokeries were still downsizing their capacity. Huang said, as coking coal prices continued to jump, coke prices stabilized. But pressure of the high cost intensified. The coke prices are expected to go upward amid fluctuations.
