Cerrejon to get damaged rail track repaired and export unaffected
Bloomberg reported that BHP Billiton Plc, Anglo American Plc and Xstrata Plc’s Cerrejon coal mine will repair by tomorrow a railway damaged in a Dec. 17 attack by a Colombian guerrilla group.
Mine spokesman Mr Julian Gonzalez said that the mine still is exporting coal by drawing on inventories at a port in northern Colombia and mining wasn’t interrupted by the attack.
Mr Gonzalez said the attack won’t affect the mine’s coal export target this year.
