According to Bozhou Municipal Bureau of Land and Resources, a multi-layer iron ore district has been found in its Mengcheng County through earlier prospecting. The pre-research project which is located in south Mengcheng with a total area of 270 square kilometers, has moved to drilling verification after having completed all geophysical prospecting as designed.

As China’s important steel base, Anhui province riches in iron ore resources with 204 iron mines and more than 4 billion tonnes of iron ore reserves, ranking the 5th in the country before the new round of exploration in 2008. After a new round of iron ore exploration conducted in 2008, the province has newly increased 13 large and medium-sized iron ore fields with new iron ore resources at about 1.15 billion tonnes.
