China’s largest coal producer China Shenhua Energy Co said over the weekend that it sold 41.5 million tonnes of coal in May, up by 26.1% YoY.
The sales figure in May contributed to a total of 186.8 million tonnes of coal sales for the first five months this year, up 17.9% YoY.
But coal prices have been falling due to high level of coal inventory. The price of steam coal for power generation fell by 12% to 15% on June 13 from a year ago in Qinhuangdao of North China's Hebei Province, the major port for transportation and distribution of coal nationwide.
