According to the sources from the Chinese ministry of Land and Resources said that all applications of coal mine prospecting right, apart from those major projects approved by the state council or others necessary in the governmental level for general survey, shall be rejected in the following two year to March 31st 2011.

This move aims to stabilize domestic coal production and prevent any capacity surplus caused by overheated investment.

Previously, China had already implemented this kind of policy in 2007, also for the same kind of purpose. The measure lasted from February 2nd 2007 to December 31st 2008.
