
It is reported that coal consumptions at China six key power plants climbed up to a new high in the week ended August 13th spurring up by the sustained high temperature in southern regions.
Daily consumptions at the six key power plants including Shanghai Municipal Electric, Guangdong Yudean, Huaneng, Zhejiang Electric, Guodian and Datang rose by 0.52%WoW, 1.24%WoW, 0.55%WoW, 6.18%WoW, 4.78%WoW and 8.79%WoW respectively.
According to data, coal stockpiled at those power plants dropped at a lower pace in the week ended August 13th except for Datang. The stockpiling volume fell down by 17.6%, 8.59%, 2.13%, 4.78% and 10.91% separately.
According to the latest data, spot prices of thermal coal at Qinhuangdao Port, the benchmark of Chinese market, remained steady by August 16th. Coal stockpiled at Qinhuangdao Port stayed at a volume of 7.30 million tonnes during the preceding period a little higher than the standard safety level.
