4. China's coal mining industry is committed to improve its safety record
A group of 20 coal mine managers from China, including representatives of Jizhong Energy Group, one of the top 10 coal mining companies in China, senior directors from the State Administration of Work Safety and a Party Secretary are visiting Coal Services’ Mine Rescue Station in Argenton.
The Chinese delegation will be briefed on Coal Services’ world class technical expertise on mine safety, training approach and the use of its Virtual Reality Training system. The VRT system is the most advanced real world simulator of its kind, preparing staff to respond to dangerous situations that may be encountered in a hazardous environment including underground and open-cut mines.
The official visit program will also focus on vital health and safety issues where Australia is a world leader including the elimination of black lung disease and the latest Australian methodologies in the areas of mines rescue, and mine gas monitoring/analysis.
This visit is part of the Australia/China Coal Safety Project, a three way partnership between the Australian Government, The Chinese Government and Jizhong Energy Resources Group. The key outcomes of this Safety Project initiative include a reduction in the risk posed by major hazards and the promotion of a culture of mine safety.
The People Republic of China is the largest consumer of coal worldwide and China domestic coal mining industry is investing resources into improving the health and safety performance of the sector.
