Bloomberg reported that China, the world biggest iron ore buyer increased imports by 11% last year as higher steel production boosted demand.

According to customs data, iron ore imports rose to 686 million tonnes from 618.4 million tonnes in 2010.

Imports totalled 64.1 million tonnes in December. That’s down 0.2% from November and up 10% from a year earlier.
