Legal Week reported that Clifford Chance and Chinese law firm Jingtian & Gongcheng are advising on a planned USD 1.5 billion Hong Kong listing by one of China’s largest coal producers.
CC Beijing partners Tim Wang and Jean Yu are advising Inner Mongolia Yitai Coal on what is set to be one of the largest Hong Kong initial public offerings so far this year. Jingtian, meanwhile, is acting as the company’s Chinese counsel.
Bank of America Merrill Lynch, BNP Paribas, China International Capital, BOC International and UBS are underwriters for the Yitai Coal listing. Legal advisers to the underwriters are not listed in a document Yitai filed with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
The latest Asia mandate for CC comes after the firm last year advised the underwriters on Prada’s Hong Kong IPO. The firm’s team included Hong Kong capital markets partner Virginia Lee.
