The Associated Press reported that a coal company is pressing anew its legal fight against federal mining regulators it accuses of abusive oversight and quota driven citations.
American Coal Company argues in a retooled lawsuit that the push by the Labor Department's Mine Safety and Health Administration to find violations actually endangers US miners by creating chaos.
American Coal's amended complaint was filed in federal court in East St Louis on Wednesday a day ahead of the deadline set by the judge who tossed out the original lawsuit last month. American Coal sued after the mine safety agency fined the company USD 1.46 million for alleged infractions involving its Galatia operation in southern Illinois' Saline County.
