Projects Today reported that the ministry for Energy, Rajasthan has urged the intervention of the ministry of coal, Rajasthan in order to ensure rapid allocation of either Chatbar (East) or Chatbar (West) coal block to Rajasthan Rajya Vidhyut Prasaran Nigam Limited.
RRVPNL requires the allocation of the block for its proposed 1,320 MW Banswara thermal power project. These blocks are estimated to have reserves of 250 million tonne each, sufficient to fuel the project.
Banswara Thermal Power Company, the SPV for the project has already submitted the environmental clearance proposal. While the land acquisition is in progress, the requisite water linkage has also been made available to the project. RRVPNL plans to allocate the project to the developer selected via the competitive bidding process by April 2010.
