
Kyrgyz Attorney General Office reported that Kyrgyzstan Attorney General Office completed the investigation of a criminal case on supply of about 9,000 tons of radioactive coal from Kazakhstan. The criminal case is transferred to court.
The Attorney General Office said "Kyrgyz Attorney General Office completed the investigation on coal supply from Kulan field to Bishkek HPP on January 21."
Kazakhstan supplied 8,576 tonnes of coal from Kulan field to Kyrgyzstan in September. Later, the radiation background of the Kulan field was estimated at 8-10 times higher than the norm. Kyrgyz Attorney General Office filed a criminal case against officials of the Kyrgyz Railway and Energo Customs Procedures Department under the articles illegal handling of radioactive materials and abuse of power.
