Cuesta Coal has confirmed the southern extent of the coal measures at its Yellow Jacket prospect in the Galilee Basin, Queensland, with the drilling program consistently intersected two coal seams across the drilled area.

Coal was intersected over an area of 15 square kilometres in all but one hole in the drilling program of 12 PCD open holes. The seams lie less than 130 metres from the surface.

Six PCD open holes have also been pre-collared and will be drilled to target depth over the next 4 to 6 weeks.

Importantly, coal remains open to the east and south east and coal has been intersected in the precollared holes near the western boundary of the EPC and in HP 28 in the south east of the target area.

The upper seam is well developed to the north, thinning to the south, whereas the lower seam tends to thicken to the south and east.

Cumulative coal thicknesses for holes in the northern part of the Yellow Jacket target area exceed 5 metres from 90 metres below surface with a general thickening and shallowing of the coal seams to the south, where a total of 8 metres has been encountered from 65 metres below surface.

In addition to the drilling activities, a close spaced gravity survey was conducted on the target area to test and calibrate the effectiveness of gravity to assist defining the coal bearing strata and continuity.

If successful, gravity acquisition will potentially have wide ranging application in assisting the high grading of other target areas within Cuesta’s Coal extensive Eastern Galilee tenure.
