It is reported that China Datang Corporation, a top five power generator in China will energetically be involved in consolidating Hunan coal industry. Datang will firstly acquire some of Hunan coal mine assets and coal resources and set up coal companies and a coal-and-power industrial consolidation platform.

Hunan subsidiary of Datang, takes over 60% of the total thermal power capacity in the province, will be the major player in the consolidation efforts. Hunan, a coal deficient province, relies half of its thermal coal on other areas. Datang subsidiaries in Hunan have been hungry for coal. Datang efforts to consolidate Hunan’s coal industry will ensure thermal coal supply in the province
