The WA reported that Gindalbie Metals has awarded a AUD 64 million contract for the Karara iron ore project's processing plant to Downer EDI.

The contract includes electrical and instrumentation works for the 8mtpa magnetite concentrator.

It represents the final major construction contract to be awarded for Karara.

Gindalbie said the contract would require a workforce of more than 260 people plus 36 supervisors, boosting the peak number of personnel on site at Karara to close to 2000.

Procurement of long lead items required for the contract is already underway and mobilization to site has already commenced.
