Downsizing deals - Boliden Irish mine workers accept cost cut package
Reuters reported that workers at Tara mine, Europe's largest zinc mine, have accepted a cost cutting package aimed at preventing closure of the Irish site and the loss of nearly 700 jobs.
A spokesman of the workers union said that it's been carried by 60% in favour and 40% against it.
Boliden, Tara mine's owner, put the package to workers earlier this month, including measures to cut overtime and cap bonuses at the site in Meath, north of Dublin, which employs 670 people.
