In Q3 2008, the Ferroalloys Division produced 37500 tonnes of ferroalloys, an increase of 2.5%. Within this the Division produced 29400 tonnes of ferrochrome, an increase of 3.2%. Growth was achieved principally in the production of high and low carbon ferrochrome.

The Serov acquisition resulted in significant growth in the Division’s production volumes, and especially in low and medium carbon ferrochrome, ferrosilicochrome and ferrosilicon. Serov added 6900 tonnes to total ferroalloys production. In Q3 2008, the Ferroalloys Division produced 44400 tonnes of ferroalloys, an increase of 21.3%, of which 2.5% points were attributable to the existing business and 18.8% points were attributable to Serov. Within the 44400 tonnes, the Division produced 33900 tonnes of ferrochrome, an increase of 18.9%.
