Edenville Energy said it has now received all the remaining results from the 2011 drill program at Namwele, part of the wider Rukwa Coalfield project in southwestern Tanzania.
The drill spacing was not close enough to produce a JORC-compliant resource tonnage estimate, however, results confirm the quality and continuity of coal mineralisation at the deposit.
Drilling was conducted at the end of the field season and Edenville plans to return to Namwele to drill sufficient infill holes as to allow for a resource estimation to be undertaken.
The Namwele project lies 4 kilometres to the southeast of the Mkomolo deposit, where a JORC compliant inferred resource of 39 million tonnes of thermal coal was defined by Edenville earlier this year.
Namwele hosts an old open pit mine which was previously worked on a small scale providing lump coal to industries located at Mbeya, some 300 kilometres to the south by road.
Mr Simon Rollason chairman said that "The initial drill program and sampling at Namwele has confirmed the presence of coal bearing strata extending out along strike from the previous workings and occurring at depth.”
He added that “These results provide the basis for follow-up drilling in 2012 which will enable a JORC compliant resource to be calculated for Namwele adding to the overall coalfield resource tonnage.”
Mapping and sampling is ongoing at the Namwele and Muze deposits aimed at locating additional drillholes.
Drilling is currently in progress at Mkomolo with the objective of upgrading and expanding the current resource.
