Business News Americas reported that the El Mutún iron ore and steel project in Bolivia's Santa Cruz department has attracted the interest of 15 companies after the exit of India's Jindal Steel & Power.
Bolivia's presidential minister Mr Carlos Romero said “Fifteen requests have already been received from companies that may be interested in mining the El Mutún deposit, especially from Chinese and Russian companies.”
He said “An inspection of the deposit revealed the lack of investment made by Jindal in the area. The company's investments did not meet even the minimum expectations.
On Tuesday, JSPL announced it is abandoning the JV after failing to come to agreement with the Bolivian government on the terms for the project.
