Evraz Highveld announced that the Department of Mineral Resources has granted the conversion of its old order mining right in respect of its Mapochs Mine into a new order mining right in terms of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act 28 of 2002.

Evraz Highveld will now embark on the process associated with the execution and registration of the mining rights.

The conversion of the mining right comes after Evraz Highveld concluded a meaningful and sustainable black economic empowerment transaction, which will result in 26% of the economic and voting interest in Mapochs Mine (Proprietary) Limited being held by Historically Disadvantaged South Africans.
