The Jakarta Globe reported that coal miner Exploitasi Energi Indonesia has secured a coal deal from state utility Perusahaan Listrik Negara under which it will supply 40 million tonnes of coal to the state firm across 20 years.
Mr Henry H. Sitanggang, president director of Exploitasi, said “With the contract, company will not be affected by falling coal prices in the global market.”
Exploistasi, formerly known as Central Korporindo Internasional, is a listed coal producer and coal trading company. Exploitasi, which began operations in 2004, has a 500 hectare mining concession in Tanah Laut, South Kalimantan, with 18 million tonnes of coal reserves, according to company data.
